The run out grooves have the following matrix numbers:

Side 1: ILPS 9111 A 2

Sleeve: Initial impressions of the sleeve are very favourable - it is clean with no writing, stickers etc and only moderate wear to the spine. It has 'Printed and made by E.J. Day, London' printed inside the gatefold cover, indicating that this is the correct, original sleeve for the pink label record. Close inspection reveals that the outside of the cover has several areas where the printed surface has been 'patched'. These are not obvious at first, but there are several patches on the front cover (top-opening corner, the right eye and cheek near the spine) and one on the rear (in the centre) where the surface has been carefully and neatly overlayed, presumably with grafts from another cover. This 'restoration' work is not easy to photograph, and can be detected as much by feel as by sight, but I have tried to show it in the second-to-last photo where I have angled the cover to catch the light and photographed the right eye close-up. This is a perfectly presentable example of an iconic cover which looks far better than most, but if you are a fussy collector I would imagine that this sort of tampering will not be for you.

Labels: No significant issues, just normal signs of age and use. No writing, stickers etc.

Vinyl: The vinyl has relatively few lines, scuffs or marks, but it has heat damage to one section which has caused an edge-warp. I have tried to show this in the last photo. Although it looks slightly alarming when the record is being played I am pleased to say that the record played through without jumping or skipping. I have played the record twice and on both occasions it was fine on my deck (although, obviously, I cannot guarantee it on yours!). Not surprisingly, for the first few minutes of either side the edge-warp does cause an audible noise with each revolution - on side one the noise is a fairly deep 'whoomp' kind of noise, whereas on side two it is higher-pitched 'swish', but on both sides it is the unmistakable sound of an edge-warp which most people will be familiar with. Once the heat-damaged area has been passed the rest of the record plays very well indeed [generally play-grading around Excellent (Ex)].  The edge-warp is unattractive and looks rather worrying when the record is being played but, taking everything into account, this is still a playable example and is actually a lot better to listen to than one that is covered in scratches - once the first few minutes of either side have passed it sounds excellent. Maybe it will do as a collection filler for now?

Play-graded vinyl: I play-grade records where possible but I don't have time to play them all. I always state in the listing if I have played a record prior to describing it.

Visually-graded vinyl: Unless specifically stated in the listing, vinyl is visually graded.  A visual grading will identify physical flaws (such as scratches) and can help determine whether a record has been cared-for properly. I always do my best to give a fair assessment of any visible marks on the playing surface, but a visual grading will not identify noise or crackle caused by non-visible sources. Most of the records I sell are between thirty and fifty years old and so it is likely that there may be some background noise even if they look perfect. POSTAGE & PACKING

I care about the records I sell and believe that they need to be carefully and securely packaged to ensure that they survive their journey through the post. Vinyl is removed from the sleeve for posting and the contents will be protected with rigid cardboard. All packages are labelled "Do not bend" and securely sealed with "FRAGILE" parcel tape.

I support the use of recycled materials and so I may sometimes use recycled packaging.

Overseas P&P charges - totally transparent pricing

I need to cover the cost of postage and packing materials, but I try not to charge more for packing and posting your item than it actually costs me. I do not view P&P costs as a means of making money.

From September 2013 sellers get charged final value fees on the entire value of a transaction including P&P. This means that I get charged a 10% ebay fee and a 3% Paypal fee on the postage element (as well as on the value of the item). To reflect this I have had to adjust my P&P charges accordingly.

To quote an exact cost for every LP is difficult because of the wide variance in weight (e.g. Abbey Road weighs around 230 grams whereas Led Zeppelin III weighs around 390 grams). But the majority of single LPs, when packed, will weigh around 550 grams and I have based my P&P rates on this.

The basic postage cost (i.e. what the post office charges me) to send a 550 gram item using the services I offer, is as follows:

Europe, International signed for (insured up to £50) - £11.70

Europe, International signed for (insured over £50) - £14.30

Rest of the World (anywhere outside Europe), International signed for (insured up to £50) - £15.20

Rest of the World (anywhere outside Europe), International signed for (insured up to £50) - £17.80

I add a nominal £0.50 to cover the cost of packaging materials etc (it is often much more than this) and add 13% to cover the final value fees charged by ebay and Paypal. This is how I have arrived at the prices shown below.
