Description
This is the original early 1st press of the "IN THE WAKE OF POSEIDON" vinyl album (LP) released by King Crimson back in 1970. It was their 2nd studio album.
I bought this STEREO album when it was first released in May 1970.
Please note, this LP is the original very early first pressing on the ISLAND label, which features a longer version of the last track on side 1 - 'In The Wake Of Poseidon (Including Libra's Theme)' running for 8 minutes 26 seconds. All later pressings had a shorter version of 7 minutes 56 seconds.
The matrix numbers in the vinyl runout are:
- Side A etched ILPS 9127 A//1
- Side B etched ILPS 9127 B//1

The vinyl is visually in lovely EX+ condition, looking almost like new under normal daylight conditions, with no scratches, no noticeable spindle marks, and just a slight thin surface scuff line on side 1 track 2, which cannot be heard on the audio.
Even in bright sunlight you can only see a few hairlines.
During play test it also played excellently, mostly like a new record, quiet between tracks and only some slight background noise during the very quiet beginning of the 1st track on both sides, and is hence rated EX+
The cover is a gatefold which was not laminated. These are less hard-wearing than laminated covers, consequently there is some wear on the corners, the top area of the spine, and some of the edges. The inside of the gatefold is in good shape. The rating for the cover is EX
