(SPLIT SINGLE) by INHERITANCE / CURFEW : I Still Love You / Pigswill Breaks The Curfew
MYNAH RECORDS SCS-831 S83/CUS1890 UK 1983 7" PS (+original PRESS RELEASE dated 'November 1983')
A' side is funky/dance new wave (in the style of early '80s Manchester bands) while side B' is an interesting synth new wave post punk track, like the great DIY tracks in the local compilations of the early '80s. Both bands had members involved in later more known acts- here's some info about them:
- INHERITANCE is an indie funky jazz new wave band - members later in Factory band 52nd Street, Urban Cookie Collective, Simply Red & Moby! - their track is a bit funky dance/new wave, boring to my taste (like many similar early '80s Factory & related bands)
- CURFEW (who came second in the final of the contest) is a band closer to my taste (as per press release "their dress and musical taste vary from green mohair jumpers to Paul Weller haircuts and Led Zeppelin to the Clash - and are all under the age of 16") - band members later in ESKIMOS & EGYPT

"Probably the rarest record in the world.. Eskimos guitarist Mark's first ever band 'Curfew' had their debut vinyl release at the tender age of 16. The fetchingly titled 'Pigswill breaks the curfew' was one side of a Salford uni inspired release, the vocalist on the other side, Diane Charlamangne went on to become Moby's singer, but not before first hooking up with Eskimos as female vocalist on bucket loads of our early material. Still one of the best female vocalists around and funny how she and Mark crossed paths on this early release!"
