7” Injun Joe, Indian Priest/Someone, Reward Records RW 1009, Belgium 1970
Vinyl strong G to VG-: both sides have several small scars that cause occasional ticking, mostly in the intro’s. There are other surface marks and hairlines that do not impact play. All in all, still enjoyable, but listen for yourself: I’ve included full MP3s (split up in two parts) of both songs.
The sleeve is hard to grade as the back of the sleeve is missing – the front is clean (as pictured) (in addition, I can include a sleeve replica from my personal copy of this 7” if you want, just ask). As with many Belgian 7”s of the time, the picture sleeve consisted of a simple folded paper sheet with unglued seams contained in a protective plastic jacket. The labels are clean.
Legendary, rare as hell Belgian psych single - A side is spooky lysergic acid folk with reversed guitar and an Eastern vibe with lyrics promoting cannibalism and the proto-glam pyromaniac Arthur Brown, while the flip is a druggy, boozed-up swamp funk stomper with gravely vocals and funky organ chops that is rumoured to be in DJ Shadow's Brainfreeze mix. A double-sided winner for ya here ...
