Description
Insanely rare Metallica 7" red vinyl up for auction. I am the original owner of this "off-label" pressing that I ordered via mail order in 1989. It have been in UV-free storage since new.
Unofficial release of 1981 demo recordings. Limited Edition of 200 on red vinyl. Record plays at 33 1/3 RPM. Paper foldover cover, labels credit band as "Four Horsemen." Titled "Metal Up Your Ass" on front and "No Life 'Till Leathur" on back.
I purchased this from an advertisement in Goldmine magazine, which was a publication for record collectors in the 1980s. I remember there were two vinyl color options...black and red. The red vinyl version was the more expensive option. Goldmine was how we used to connect to buy/sell/trade before the internet!
Obviously, this was an off-label pressing since the cover is basically a photocopy on yellow paper. The paper is not even cut straight! There is a slight amount of ring wear when viewing the cover at certain angels. I have no idea of the sound quality since this item is new and has never been played/tested. The vinyl itself looks to be of good quality. If I remember correctly the seller was located in NY or NJ.
