Highly sought after and exceedingly rare jazz classic on coveted U.S. Blue Note label in overall gorgeous condition!

This is seriously thick, heavy duty and deep groove vinyl which has retained much of it's original and wonderful sheen. Just a couple of very small marks on each side of the vinyl, not immediately obvious, and under a bight light a couple more small wispy hairlines and some very faint paper scuffing. Remarkable condition overall for a 60 year old piece of vinyl. A true first pressing as evidenced by the "167 LEXINGTON AVE" text on each of the labels, and the "RVG" and "ear" mark etches on the run-off grooves on each side of the vinyl. Perfect!

The quality of the audio is is excellent. I need to qualifyy that : on side 1 there is just a little background crackle during the opening track intro, and a recurrence of this slight crackle on track 2 and towards the end of the final track. There are also two mild clicks towards the end of track 2 which, upon close inspection under a bright light, are caused by a very small mark the size of a pin head. Still a great listen. For side 2 the audio is simply stunning - can't fault it! A great tone throughout. In my opinion the audio quality on both sides is superior to that of a re-mastered digital CD where the extra detail is simply obliterated during the compression process.

The non-laminated outer sleeve is in excellent condition. The vibrant front cover colouring is still fully intact and impressive and each of the edges remain rigid and in very good shape with barely any rubbing or scuffing apart from the bottom edge where a little light rubbing can be found which I've tried to show in one of my photos. The corners are in good shape with minimal rubbing though the bottom front left hand corner does have a small crease and a little compression. The spine is perfect (apart from the aforementioned little light rubbing in the corner locations). The reverse side is near perfect - just a small crease underneath the "43 West" text. No doodles, no unwanted writing, no creasing...a delight!

  Each label is excellent though on the side 1 label there are a couple of very small score marks (can't make out whether these are manufacturing faults) - nothing substantial at all though they do interfere slightly with part of the text (see photo). The side 2 label is pristine apart from one very, very faint and small spindle trail.

This is album is simply a great, great listen, and not surprising considering the musicians : Kenny Burrell, Tommy Flanagan, Paul Chambers, Kenny Clarke, and Candido!! This is an exceedingly rare album and to find a similar 1st pressing copy in as good a condition as this must be very, very unlikely.

Mint

Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good

Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair 

Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor

Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
