Rare IRMA THOMAS single with a pair of N'awlins soul gems written and produced by the late, great Allen Toussaint - the mesmerizing "Ruler of My Heart" backed with an irresistible uptempo "hip" shaker, "Hittin' on Nothing".  Absolutely exquisite vocals by the "Soul Queen of New Orleans" with first-rate musicians and terrific production, and just a wonderful record that sounds every bit as ALIVE as it did almost 60 years ago!  As jukebox records go, they don't get much better than this.

Otis Redding later adapted the A-side as "Pain in My Heart".  Writing credit on both sides of this 45 was given to Toussaint's mother, Naomi Neville, a pseudonym he used on many of his early compositions.
