Another from my personal collection! Purchased from new in 1970! Initially only played a few times when I purchased this album, and recorded the album to tape, then stored the album in a case. It certainly looks in barely ever played condition in my opinion, at least I find it hard to see just a minimal amount of spider marks only! There are no scratches or marks on the vinyl at least that would cause any clicks or pops.  Unbelievably rare in this condition, and impossible to find like this! The vinyl has always been stored seperately from the sleeve and cover which has obviously preserved this vinyl in very near pristine condition for over 43 years, this is how I have always stored my records, visually on initial inspection the playing surface is free from any audio sounding marks that would cause any nasty loud clicks or pops,  I have play tested the vinyl at very loud volume on a top system three times prior to this listing. Please note ,any that know about these mid seventies pressings should allow for minor isolated static that are notorious on these pressings. This is probably one of the best sounding copies that I have heard.

Metamorphosis is the fourth studio album by Iron Butterfly, released in 1970. Though it was not as successful as its predecessor Ball (1969), it reached number 16 on the US charts.

The album was recorded as a trio; Erik Brann, who left because of band disputes, was replaced by four session guitarists. Two of them, Mike Pinera and Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt (called El Rhino on the sleeve), would become members of Iron Butterfly shortly after the album's release.

Officially, the album is credited not to Iron Butterfly, but to "Iron Butterfly With Pinera & Rhino", in reference to the two aforementioned guitarists.

The album spawned the single "Easy Rider (Let the Wind Pay the Way)," which reached number 66 on the Billboard chart, making it the band's biggest hit aside from "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".

The album is noted for having one of the earliest uses of the Talk box on a rock album.

The Labels
The 1st issue Atco two tone blue/beigh labels are in SUPERB condition. and have NO wear, NO!writing and bare minimal spindle marks can only be noticed angled to the light!

The Vinyl
  Visual: The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free from any warps and lays pefectly flat on the turntable (Warping is commonly seen on these early seventies vinyls) The vinyl has a DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY sheen retained from new and looks almost like a new vinyl in my opinion! Any marks that could possibly be seen under strong light would be mainly sleeve removal only, importantly there is no scratches or at least no marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops at all!

Audio: OUTSTANDING audio delivery - CRYSTAL CLEAR, DEEP, RICH, SHARP  and EXTREMELY STRONG and VIBRANT ON ALL FREQUENCIES. The soundscapes are absolutely STUNNING THROUGHOUT! You can really appreciate the awesome seperation when played at loud volume and the clarity is unbeleivable. The LP plays with NO loud clicks or pops, NO jumps, NO sticks, NO loud clicks or pops any minor isolated static  background crackle,  are extreemely minimal indeed. Critically graded at least Excellent Plus to as good as it gets in my personal opinion!

Please note, I always add this disclaimer! Allowances must be made for these early seventies pressings, because they are notorious for having background crackle and pops. but I would say that this is probably one of the best that I have heard of this pressing and I think that it would be hard to find a better sounding copy. Please remember that this is a genuine 43 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 43 year old system. My honest opinion is to grade the audio at least excellent plus to very near as mint. Please look at my completed lidstings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!

Important Note! This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for over 37 years, a build up od dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle and ticks. A constatnt clean before each play is highly recomended. This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality.

 The Gatefold Cover

This is the original unlaminated (Textured) E.Day & Co  Printed gatefold cover! Amaizingly (no) real rubbing ware, (no) splits or tares and (no) real creases worth to mention! Normally seen very grubby if not looked after carefully, this is in absolutely stunning condition having been stored away in a case for over 40 years! Unbeleivably rare to find like this! This cover has always been stored seperate from the vinyl which has obviously eliminated any ringware!! (see photos)  Amaizingly, this looks very near almost as good as the day that it was made in my opinion!  I would grade this at least excellent plus in my opinion!

This is a plain white poly lined sleeve with no markings.
