Iron Maiden : Somewhere In Time A4 / B4 1st Press 1986
This first pressing plays with superb audio and S1 in particular is so impressive with no intrusion at all. I have graded this side as Mint- such is the quality. S2 is not far behind really with only a couple of minor ticks and a little static on two intros. The clarity, depth and power is stunning and the vinyl has certainly not lost any of its original sonic quality.
The cover and merchandise sheet are in lovely condition with hardly any wear and the lyric inner has only a couple of small edge rubs. A stunning 'package' overall.
This album is known as one of the first press variations from 1986 and has been preserved so well down the years.

Visual description
This vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy look with no scratches. Under a bright light I can only see some faint hairlines and 3/4 small faint blemishes in one area on S1 that have no affect on the audio. The labels are in superb shape with barely any spindle wear.
Play grading
The run in on S1 is so clean and then the intro on 'Caught Somewhere In Time' has no background and neither does the opening vocal section. As you would expect the audio is strong and deep and it continues in the same precise way with a clarity and power that cannot be faulted. The mid instrumental is stunning, incredible guitar work here and there is zero distortion. The final vocal section / instrumental is just as impressive and this opening track is Mint in every way.
'Wasted Years' plays with the same intensity and power and again there is no intrusion on the playback. From start to finish the clarity and definition of the audio is first class and Mint is again deserved. There is just a hint of light static right at the end of the fade out but I'm not going to downgrade it because of that!
The powerful intro on 'Sea Of Madness' plays perfectly and Dickinson's opening vocal is on the same level. From then on it plays with that typical Maiden sound, deep and strong audio with great resonance also. The 'quieter' mid section has not even a solitary dust tick and the remainder has no sign of any interference. Another Mint track.
The quiet intro on 'Heaven Can Wait' has only very minimal light static at the beginning and as McBrain kicks in the audio is superb. The opening vocal / chorus play perfectly and as it progresses the power and depth of the audio really stand out. No problems with inner groove distortion here there is none! Outstanding separation for a final track also, each note is so clean and precise. A great track with a great chorus, another Harris classic. A little static on the fade out again but I'm sure no one will mind if I grade it as Mint!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro on 'The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner' plays very clearly but you can hear a little static in the background for the first 5 seconds. Showing Dickinson's full range the opening vocal section plays perfectly and on the following instrumental there is just one very light tick. From then on the clarity, power and depth of the audio is more or less perfect with only one minor tick near the end. I will grade the first few seconds as Ex and the rest as Near Mint
The bass intro on 'Stranger In A Strange Land' has no background and the rest of the intro is equally as good. The first vocal is perfect and these levels do not drop as it continues. Another track from Smith and it plays with phenomenal quality throughout without any issues. Pure Mint audio.
'Deja-Vu' again has some very light static on the intro but it is totally non-intrusive. The next highly charged section plays with incredible clarity and power and the opening vocal is 'as new'. The can be applied to the rest of the track really - there are no negatives, no ticks, clicks, pops or static. A superb listen with no distortion on the top end. This intro is Ex and the remainder Mint
The entire intro on 'Alexander The Great' plays with exceptional clarity, just some very light static at the beginning. As the volume increases the playback is STUNNING and the opening vocal section is just as impressive. It continues to play with breath-taking quality and the mid instrumental is so dynamic and plays with impeccable power and depth. Once more there is no inner groove distortion and the final vocal / fade out ends this classic with supreme quality. Always good to have a history lesson, just a shame about the sad ending! A couple of minor ticks on the fade out but overall Mint- is deserved. A superb listen for sure.
The Cover, Lyric Inner & Merchandise Sheet
The cover is in superb condition with hardly any wear. The edges are near perfect with only a small 'rub' on the bottom edge by the right corner and the spine is super clean. The corners are in excellent shape and the opening edge is pristine. The front and back cover are immaculate without any marking, this is a stunning example of this iconic cover.
The lyric inner just has a small small rub on both the bottom and right edges but neither has resulted in a split. It has no marking or creasing either. The merchandise sheet is almost 'as new' with only a couple of small faint creases.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
