The last studio album to feature the vocals of Blaze Bayley, 'Virtual XI' is much maligned in the Iron Maiden canon. Their lowest selling LP, it did feature some great tracks however. 'Futureal' is as ball bustingly fast and powerful as any other thier early 80s output, and Bayley does weigh in with some impressive singing. A change was in the air, however: with their spirits and sales at an all time low Iron Maiden sacked Bayley following this record and reunited with Dickinson the year after.
On vinyl, this is almost impossible to find now. As with all the nineties maiden releases, the print runs were getting smaller due to CDs and many people simply opted for the easier option! Add this factor to the point that this album sold relatively few copies on ANY format and you've got one RARE Maiden item. Though the artwork is not as great as the earlier or later records, it is expertly designed and the packaging here is simply GORGEOUS. Plus the inner gatefold has to be seen to be believed.
CONDITION OF VINYL: NEAR MINT. The vinyl playing surfaces show absolutely NO SIGN of having been played. The vinyl feels silky and beautiful to the touch and there are NO paper scuffs, no needlewear, no surface marks NOTHING. Quite simply I've only played this record ONCE and it doesn't look like it has ever been touched by a needle. These discs are AS NEW!!! The labels are completely PERFECT with no spindlemarks WHATSOEVER! GORGEOUS.
CONDITION OF SLEEVE/INNERS: EXCELLENT. The packaging of this album is STUNNING. The front sleeve is near perfect with a few tiny scruffs hardly close to the base hardly recognisable in the photos, while the rear of the sleeve is also in stunning shape. The inner gatefold is PERFECT and has no blemishes AT ALL. The spine is lovely, stiff and the text fully legible. There are a couple of spots of wear on the top and bottom edges from storage but this is VERY minimal. The left corners of the sleeve are a tiny bit worn but this is the type of wear you often find on NEW records! All in all this is a GREAT copy of this very rare LP... I like to be as thorough as possible to give you the clearest possible picture of what you are bidding on. The INNERS are NEAR MINT and AS NEW. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!
