ISABEL SUTHERLAND – FOLK CLASSICS – EFDSS LP 1007
1974 recording in the Folk Classics Series issued by the English Folk Dance & Song Society. Isabel Sutherland hails from Edinburgh. Her quite startling voice first came to wide notice singing at the Edinburgh People’s Festival in 1951, then after travelling, learning and recording traditional songs in north east Scotland, she moved to London intent on introducing the native ballads of Scotland to a wider audience, 14 of which are represented on this album. On the rear of the sleeve her own notes explain each song with their background and how she originally learned them.
Disc is near mint. Sleeve is excellent with minor wear.
