ISTVAN KERTESZ with the VIENNA PHILARMONIC in DVORAK's Symphony No5 in E Minor 'From the New World' SXL 2289.

A very rare and sought after first generation DECCA SXL record.

Side 1 Matrix  ZAL-5172-4E  2 BU  Side 2 Matrix ZAL-5173-2E 1 U

The vinyl has a shiny lustre,with no marks or scratches.There are some spindle marks to indicate light playing of the record.

The 'one-off' gatefold sleeve design has a laminated front,laminated gatefold and laminated rear in excellent condition.Being hyper-critical there is some very minor wear,ie minor corner wear top left corner on front sleeve;minor creasing,minor lifted laminate and a couple of faint 2cm pencil marks on gatefold laminate,small yellow 'E' sticker on rear laminate with some very minor ring wear on laminate and rear.

When donated the record was still in the plastic sleeve from Ron's Record Shop in Ilford,East London which probably closed decades ago.The previous owner certainly cared for his vinyl.

Playing surface

The flat playing surfaces are pristine under bright magnified light wityh a full and complete luster. The record is flat and well centered. The 1st press ‘Original Recording By’ labels show no signs of use to the spindle holes. Played only for grading purposes (See film above) this is an extreemly fine example and we grade it without reservation as Near Mint (NM)

Cover

The three quarter laminated thin gatefold cover is in superb condition all seams are straight and true, no feathering, rubs, writing, stickers, foxing stains tears or rips. Thew Whiteness is retained throughout, this really is a superb copy (Please see images above for a clear sense of condition) = Near Mint (NM)-
