Description

This full-length debut from British blues-rockers Spooky Tooth has a tone similar to Traffic with its psychedelic take on the influential pop and soul music of the '60s. A few cover tunes including Janis Ian's "Society's Child" and the Nashville Teens' "Tobacco Road" are included, but original songs like the soulful ballad "It Hurts You So" and "Bubbles" (with its Beach Boys sensibility) are the real standouts. The cheery, psychedelic "It's All About a Roundabout" is the catchiest number by far. On this dreamy cut, vocalist/keyboardist Gary Wright demonstrates some sharp melodic and compositional instincts. Although Spooky Tooth eventually became better-known for their straightforward blues-rock, the trippy pop of It's All About counts as a career highlight for the group. Fans of late-'60s British rock are definitely advised to check out this impressive release. _______ AllMusicGuide

CONDITION DETAILS: GLOSSY LAMINATED COVER IN VG CONDITION SHOWING creasing ON BACK LOWER left corner-RIGHT CORNER AND A LIGHT CREASE ON UPPER-LEFT of BACK COVER. FRONT UPPER LEFT OF COVER SHOWS VERY MILD CREASE. JACKETS SHOWS MILD RUBBING TO UPPER AND LOWER CORNERS OF THE COVER FRONT and minor wear along the upper and lower edges. THE LAMINATE IS FINE NO PEELING ISSUES. THE SPINE IS FINE NO SPLITS OR ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE AND THE JACKET IS FREE OF PRICE STICKERS, STICKERS, WRITING ETC. NOW AS PER THE VINYL ALTHOUGH VISUALLY IT APPEARS TO RETAIN MUCH OF ITS ORIGINAL GLOSS I DID SEE SOME MARKS TO BOTH SIDES UNDER STRONG LIGHTING. THUSLY AS IT MAY APPEAR CONDITION TO BE A VG+ I’M GONNA CALL IT VG. BEARING IN MIND THAT GRADING, PLAYABITLY AND SOUND CAN VARY SUBJECTIVELY FROM INDIVIDUAL TO INDIVIDUAL AS I DO NOT CALL MYSELF A PROFESSIONAL GRADER BY ANY MEANS. NOW UPON PLAY OF SIDE A IT PLAYS AND SOUNDS VERY GOOD PRETTY MUCH FREE OF SURFACE CLICKS (MAYBE ON OCCASION) BUT NOTHING ALARMING. NO REAL SURFACE NOISE. THE THING IS WITH THESE UK PINK ISLAND PRESSINGS THE VINYLGROOVES ARE FINE AS ITS US COUNTERPART IN WHICH THE GROOVES APPEAR TO BE FURTHER APART IF YOU WILL. THUSLY WITH THE UK PRESSING THE CLARITY OF THE MUSIC IS MUCH TO BE DESIRED AS IS THE CASE WITH THIS RECORD (ITS ALL ABOUT) now on to side b upon play again this side plays well for the most part except for an occasional surface click or so till I got to the last track “bubbles” did I notice several clicks pretty much through the whole song . I DID LISTEN TO THE LP IN ITS Entirety and the lp does not skip, jump, nor repeats.  I FEEL this PRETTY MUCH sums it UP AS FAR AS CONDITION AND PLAYABILITY. Please study the photos as they are part of the condition and description. CHEERS!
