Groundbreaking debut album from electronic music medium experimentator Ivan Patachich. Features electronic, electroacoustic, musique concrete and tape works from 1976-1979.
Some info on the release: This is the original hungarian pressing from Hungaroton label, that released also records from Zoltan Pongracz, Nicolas Schoeffer, Istvan Szigeti, Ricardo Mandolini, Tamas Ungvary, Lazlo Dubrovay, Peter Eotvos, Paul Arma, Zoltan Jeney, Laszlo Sary, Gabor Darvas and others. In the six compositions that appear on the record, the composer researches the possibilities of electronic modulation (Antifoni), electro-acoustic composition (Calling Sounds) with names from Indonesia, Polynesia, Aztec, Sanscrit, Central Africa, Ancient Greece and Armenia, sung or pronounced with emotion and in part of concrete sounds like forest murmurs, babble of a stream. This one prepared in the famous Institute of Sonology in utrecht. Patachich then makes an electro-acoustic experiment with folk sounds (Ballade), using noise and concrete sounds, close to sound poetry. He then researches synthetic frequencies (Ludus Syntheticus), then he uses gongs and tam-tams in combination with a female singing voice (Chinese Temple with echo), while the record closes with Homage A l'Electronique, riding to a climax of pure electronic music.
Ivan Patachich was born on June 3rd 1922 in Hungary. He was schooled at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest for both composition and conducting where he studied under the direction of Albert Siklós, Franz Szabó, and John Ferencsik. Shortly after receiving his degree in 1948, Patachich became the Musical Director of the Hungarian Films Studio. Based in Budapest, he became a mainstay of the musical scene in the city and remained at the position until 1987. Patachich was a constant student of the electronic music field and he traveled abroad to learn from places such as Columbia University, Studios EMS of Stockholm, the Academy of Music of Stuttgart, the Experimental Studios of the Radio of Bratislava, and the Electronic Pulpit of Music in Bourges. He is credited for introducing electroacoustic music to Hungary and constantly pushed for furthering its development. Patachich belongs to the "league" of eastern Europe composers that experimented with electronic during the 70's together with Corneliu Dan Georgescu, Costin Miereanu, Iancu Dumitrescu, Fernando Grillo, Octavian Nemescu, Zbynek Vostrak, Krzysztof Penderecki, Knittel, Wlodzimierz Kotonski and others.
Condition: Vinyl lies in mint condition, crystal clear and shiny, barely played. Cover lies in excellent- condition showing very gentle usage (see photo).
