IVAN SCOTT: Voice Of the Guitar (Sound News Studios, SN 214, 1981?, LP)
Signed and dedicated by the artist.
This has the look and feel of a late 1960s or early 1970s manufacture, but it is almost certainly very early 1980s judging by the catalogue number (the later SN series). The 'old feel' manufacture is down to the artist having gone with Sound News Studios' budget package of floppy flipback sleeve option. What gives it away is that the labels are definitely cusp of 1970s/1980s - bright and glossy.
1981 or 1982 might also be a good guess because the earliest signed copy I've ever seen says 1982 - this copy! Various people on eBay say it is from 1974 because that year is name-checked…as the year he bought the guitar you hear on the record. Nothing to do with release date!
So, a private pressing by a pipe-smoking guitarist, who has a repertoire on the evidence here of classical (Elizabethan/Baroque to Albeniz), ragtime, flamenco, and pop (that's "pop" as in Cavatina). And it is very good.
The sleeve is a little below VG thanks to the flimsy construction and with some what looks to be very light sticker damage. The record plays at EX.
* * * * Records generally have hairline or other surface marks from removal from/insertion into sleeves - these are not mentioned unless causing audible noise. Records are play tested unless stated and any defects over and above what should be expected of the generic Record Collector grading are described in the listing. Please look at the photos carefully for condition of sleeves, etc.

* * * * All items are from my own various collections and most have been in storage for 20+ years. Lockdowns (and various heart ops.) made me wonder why I have thousands of records that I will never choose to listen to again.
