Description
DAVEY LEE, or as he was better known, "Sonny Boy," was a child star best known for his turn in "The Singing Fool," when Al Jolson sang the eponymous "Sonny Boy" to the kid, as he sat on Jolson's knee. Davey was a national figure for about two years, during which he made two Brunswick records. The first one, "Sonny Boy's Bear Story," was a respectable novelty hit. The present record, "I'VE LOST MY DOG" and "DAVEY AND HIS DOG, TATTERS," came in 1930, at the tail end of the boy's vogue, and consequently is extremely scarce! I didn't know this record even existed. Evidently, neither did Brian Rust, who, in his "Entertainment Discography," included a chapter on Davey Lee, but omitted this, his OTHER record!
This original 1930 Brunswick 4986 is in lovely EE- condition. A few scratches, almost no wear.
