TITLE: IVORY

LABEL: TETRAGRAMMATON T-104 ORIGINAL USA WHITE LABEL PROMO ONLY RADIO STATION PRESSING

YEAR: 1968

COVER:  Promo sticker on front, two corner rubs, some light shelf wear. No split seams or stickers.

VINYL: VG++ graded down due to a couple of visible sleeve scuffs which prevent it from being NM. Othewise super super clean both vinyl and labels.

INNER SLEEVE: YES, PS

(PS = PLAIN SLEEVE, CS = Company Sleeve)

NOTES: THIS RECORD COMES WITH A LETTER FROM THE RECORD COMPANY PROMOTING THE BAND.

This California trio had a sound similar to Jefferson Airplane (not surprising considering their producer was Al Schmitt, the Airplane producer) with powerful female vocals by Chris Christman. An excellent example of the American tough psychedelic sound with some great fuzz guitar / organ interplay on the best track Silver Rains. All their material was written by Chris Christman and Kenny Thomure, Mike McAuley being also credited for Silver Rains and Wark on Last Laugh. None of the group members appear to have played in any documented group before or after Ivory. Recommended. Ken Thomure and Mike McCauley grew up together and played together in Boron, California. After high school the duo decided to go to Hollywood and form a band there. They bumped into Christman, who lived in Westchester, on Sunset Strip. They started out by playing small clubs then graduated to out-of-town gigs and set up a production company. Next they acquired manager Tony Christian, who got them auditions and a recording contract. After the LP was recorded they got bigger gigs, a TV appearance on the Tonight, and went on their first tour in Colorado. On their return to L.A., McCauley was drafted and sent to Vietnam where he was wounded, and the band never recovered. Silver Rains can also be found on Journey To The East (LP). There was also another act by the same name who had a self-titled album on Playboy (115) in 1973. THE GRADING

All vinyl is visually graded under bright lights, conservatively, using our many years experience with grading records.  

Mint = NEW, Sealed.

M- (Near Mint) = nearly immaculate, only the absolute lightest signs of use, usually only played a few times if at all. (What we are all looking for)

VG++ is a grade I will use if a record is just shy of NM or a hair better than VG+ (a collector class record to be sure)

VG+ will be a well kept record which shows light to moderate signs of play. (Will please most collectors).

VG  will be a well played copy, many scuffs, visible scratches etc, probably affecting overall sound quality.  (A good starter copy on something rare)

Overseas is $15.00USA for the first record plus $4.00 for each additional. (Up To 4 LP's) More than that must go USPS Priority Mail International.
