Ian A. Anderson (the 'A' added a little later to save confusion with his namesake in Jethro Tull) first performed in his home town of Weston-super-Mare as a member of the Backwater Jooks Band and came to prominence as a member of the Bristol based country blues scene of the mid to late 1960s, performing live and on record, both solo, with Al Jones and Elliott Jackson as the trio "Anderson Jones Jackson", and as a duo with Mike Cooper. In December 1969, with John Turner of Pigsty Hill Light Orchestra, he conceived the record label The Village Thing, for which he was also a producer. The label's first release was in 1970. Village Thing "championed" a number of folk musicians, predominantly from the Bristol area.
1969 also saw the release of 'Stereo Death Breakdown',  his only full-band LP with the Country Blues Band and in doing so caught the attention of  prominent DJ John Peel who regularly gave it a spin. A steel guitarist of some renown Anderson is joined here by Chris Turner (harmonica), Bob Rowe (bass guitar), 'Harmonica Annie' Matthews (vocals), The Big Sunflower (Piano), Pete Hossell (Jug), Ron Needes (Mandolin), Brian Claxton (Washboard).

' Stereo Death Breakdown' is considered a lost gem of the British blues scene of the late 60's. The story goes that originally this band was picked up by then fast-rising hip independent Island Records (signed by legendary head of A&R Guy Stevens) however the album had to be moved sideways at the 11th hour for release by Liberty/United Artists after pressure from a rock band on the label led by a musician of the same name. 

These blue Liberty albums are pretty scarce and this particular album, the only ever pressing released (and in limited numbers as well) is seriously rare let alone in such glorious condition.

Vinyl - play-tested completely both sides :   glorious thick piece / shiny throughout / played once or twice at most / no marks / no lead in-out noise / no pops or skips / difficult to fault in any way / a lovely thick piece that leans more towards Near  Mint than EX+.
