Excellent lp of avant garde pieces conducted by Marius Constant, with a beautiful cover by op-art painter Victor Vasarely. Syrmos is mathematically-derived 'stochastic' music and culls an amazing array of sound textures from an ensemble consisting solely of strings. Polytope was composed for a "light and sound spectacle" at the French Pavillion of Expo '67; it experiments with spatial sound projection by dividing the orchestra around the audience. Includes insert with extensive notes.

Xenakis was a Greek architect and composer who worked with Le Corbusier and brought the mathematics and logic of engineering into his "stochastic" music; he studied under Darius Milhaud, Arthur Honegger, and Olivier Messiaen, was influenced by Karlheinz Stockhausen and John Cage, worked with Pierre Schaeffer (at the INA-GRM studios), Lukas Foss, and Pierre Boulez, and is associated with fellow eastern europeans Gyorgy Ligeti and Krzysztof Penderecki.

Up to 2 12" records to Canada is $16.50 for First Class Airmail with tracking. Up to 2 12" records to Mexico is $21.50 for First Class Airmail with tracking. Other international destinations vary as does the cost of adding additional lps depending on weight, email for a quote. Please note that First Class Airmail usually takes about 2 weeks and is uninsured. International shipments requiring insurance can use the faster but more expensive USPS Priority Mail International service or other expedited insured methods. Packing I pack professionally and with the utmost care drawn from years of experience trading vinyl internationally. I use new record mailers from Cameron Packaging (which I have determined are the best and most protective) reinforced with cardboard inserts and bubble wrap padding. All records are shipped with poly plastic sleeves and with the vinyl outside of the cover to prevent damage. All packages are completely sealed with strong packing tape covering all openings. Unless requested, no paper invoice is included in the package, both to save trees and to avoid customs difficulties. If you'd like your package done any differently, just let me know.
