The Edge is a studio album by Ike Turner released on Fantasy Records in 1980. It was released two years after Turner's divorce from his musical partner Tina Turner.
The Edge contains songs taken from Ike & Tina Turner's recording sessions together. Tina Turner sings lead on the recordings on the Side A, which include pop-rock hits such as "Only Women Bleed" by Alice Cooper and "Philadelphia Freedom" by Elton John. The B Side contains Ike Turner singing his compositions. After Tina Turner released her successful Private Dancer album, Fantasy reissued Side A of The Edge as a mini-album in 1984. The cover song, "Lean On Me" by Bill Withers, was released as a single in 1984.
Condition Report The Vinyl is described as Near Mint. Very few signs of play. Maybe 1 or 2 extremely fine hairlines and/or sleeve marks but I am struggling to see them. No spindle marks... a black sticker covering promo sticker. The Vinyl has retained nearly all of its rich waxy lustre. The Cover is described as VG+ & had it not been for the 5cm fine cut half way down open edge front cover it would have been graded Excellent. This cut has been repaired from within & the previous owners details have been taped over within as well. There is some visible edge/spine & corner-wear. There are some fine cracks to spine & edges with associated wrinkles. There is some minor ring wear to front & verso. There are some colour losses to edges & spine. No seam splits.
