Description

One word....GOOD GRIEF! [Ok, Two]. This LP is UN-BEELEEIVABLE....
An original 1st press in the UK on Columbia Clef labels. Is that good? Yes, yes it's very good. Good for starters...but read on. Tax code RT..  this is genuine '56 vintage. Seriously? Surely not.. No, it REALLY IS. And 1G/2G stampers so really nice and early in sequence. And It's just in fantastic condition. This is probably one of the best ever looking and sounding mid-fifties Jaz originals I have ever set my eyes and ears upon. If you like the idea of being in the studio or jazz bar with your favourite legend blasting it out... this is the nearest you'll ever come to it on record. The recording quality is total top drawer and captures all the ambiance. Highly highly unusual for a fussy jazz standard.  It comes housed in an original fully laminated cover with scalloped flips (='s 50's). Now, let me just remind you - hardly ever does an original mid fifties cover surface looking like this. The original Emitex present. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In beautiful condition having seen only light use. Jazz labels from the fifties rarely look this pristine. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with minor deviation in one spot per side. Intros and inbetweens are beautifully quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Playing very clean for jazz of this vintage. No kidding this goes straight into my top two or three original jazz lps. A few minor crackles in one spot [e.g BLUES]. One isolated click late on side 2. But I have NEVER witnessed a cleaner signal on a jazz lp of this vintage...which is really saying something. Clearly had a careful owner. Basically superb. Those sax tones are just a total de-light....But the ability to resolve the percussion is equally mind-blowing.
Cover (Ex-) In superb shape  for the vintage. Clean surfaces with some lightest trace of ageing on front. the rear is just down right amazing with hardly any sign of ageing. Flips in excellent condition slightest damage in one spot. Slight corner tear repaired bottom right on front. . Spine 90% intact. A very FINE original example to say the least.
