Here I have for sale the rare Australian import soundtrack to cult 1980s movie "The Big Chill", featuring music by various artists.

Various ?– More Songs From The Original Soundtrack Of "The Big Chill" (1984)

Condition (refer also to notes at bottom):
Vinyl – VG-EX. Superbly clean on visual inspection. No obvious signs of wear. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is superb throughout. No sticking, jumping or skipping. A fantastic listen!
Cover – G-VG. Colours are unfaded. Some minor mottling/rubbing to front and reverse when viewed at an angle. Slight disc outline on front and reverse too. Corners and aperture show slight nicks. Edges and spine are clean and intact, with no scuffing. Some vein-like creases in from spine edge on front. A few creases elsewhere on front as well as some rubbing towards bottom. Reverse has some creases in bottom left and on spine edge as well as a few marks and small dents. Small area of dark staining visible in bottom left and aperture area has crinkled a little, presumably due to this exposure to a liquid. However, a good example overall.
Inner sleeve – Original. Clear plastic. D-shaped. Minor creases/folds. Intact.

Review:
The Big Chill: More Songs from the Original Soundtrack (1984) was issued seven months after its predecessor. With only seven of the 11 cuts actually used in The Big Chill, this title made a comparatively modest showing in the Top 100.

The original motion picture soundtrack to The Big Chill (1984) has been rightfully lauded as reintroducing the baby boomer generation – as well as the rest of the world – to their music. The film deals with a bittersweet reunion of former college pals at the funeral of a mutual friend. The candour and humour that director Lawrence Kasdan used in dealing with the subject matter, as well as the iconoclastic top-shelf ensemble cast, immediately struck a chord.

The characters and situations presented obvious and resounding touchstones in the concurrent lives of those who survived coming of age during the 1960s. At the very core of each cinematic scene, tying all of the emotional loose ends together, is the seemingly haphazard soundtrack.

Indeed, outside of the context of the movie, putting tracks as stylistically disparate as the Steve Miller Band's psychedelic ballad "Quicksilver Girl" alongside the bright R&B of the Exciters' "Tell Him'" might seem, at the very least, odd.

However, the action on the screen becomes so indelibly linked to the incidental tunes that the music practically becomes a phantom cast member.

The tracks were chosen by Kasdan's wife, Meg, and as the bulk of them hailed from the Motown catalog, the R&B label released an original soundtrack long-player containing ten of the tunes prominently featured in the flick. The Top 20 success of that platter spawned this follow-up.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
