Lack of space has forced me to sell my vinyl collection from way back when...

(Stick with me, listening is taking forever...!) 

This auction is of another gem, arguably King Crimson’s best, on the ALL pink Island label.

These 1st press, pink label versions are scarce in such good condition and much sought after.

It is the original, matte gatefold, pink scream outer/white inner, vinyl disc, set.

Enjoy a great playing, psychedelic experience and a piece of golden era history!

Sorry for inconsistent colour of photos, some were taken in daylight, others by room light.

LABEL – CATALOGUE REFS – VINYL

Island Records – ILPS 9111. The vinyl weight is correct at 135 grams. The overall set grade is VG+.

AUDIO

Grade Exc. All tracks play through perfectly, ace memories. This disc is pure vinyl stereo sound.

DISC VISUAL

Grade Exc to VG+. The disc is very clean, warp free and retains its deep glossy, heavy vinyl, black sheen. There are few wispy hairlines and there's a surface scratch on each side. These scratches do not affect sound quality– please see photos.

The labels on both sides are very clean, bright and without any markings or writing.

The spindle hole is firm, with very few, light scuffs consistent with normal play.

PACKAGING

Grade Exc to G. The matte card, “E G Productions, David & John” designed, “E J Day” manufactured, gatefold cover, is 100% intact. The back is scuffed by the lower edge, grade G – see photos.

The edges are true, with marginal scuffing. The spine edge is intact and the titling is clearly legible.

The white paper/poly inner is original, with the statutory warning that plastic bags can be dangerous, etc, “British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 MADE IN ENGLAND  50  /119”. It is slightly edge discoloured.

GRADING

The grading system I have used is based on UK record mags as follows:–

MINT

Un-played item. The vinyl is in brand new condition, no surface marks or deterioration in audio quality. The cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT (Exc)

The vinyl is shiny, with few signs of having been played but with no appreciable lessening of audio quality. The packaging and extras may have negligible wear.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)

The vinyl is still be shiny but may have a few light marks, with very little lessening of audio quality. Light wear and tear on the packaging or extra items.

VERY GOOD (VG)

The vinyl has been played many times, is still shiny and displays no major deterioration in audio quality. There are noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the packaging or extra items.

GOOD (G)

The vinyl has been played to such an extent that audio quality has deteriorated noticeably, there are mild scratches. The packaging or extra items, suffer from folding and scuffing of edges, with spine splits.

FAIR (F)

The vinyl is no longer shiny and has been played so much that the audio quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The packaging or extra items, suffer from severe folding and scuffing of edges, with spine splits.
