"I remember encountering India Bharti at Glebe markets one afternoon and being really fascinated by his music and his presence. He was a one man band set up by a large tree. Exposed roots of the tree cradled his amazing tangle of equipment: leads, effects boxes, amplified branches. He appeared like an extension of some underground system. He played a mic’d-up violin and blew into a curly log (the Bhartiphone - possibly one of India's homemade wind instruments?) and I think used his toes to set off various effects and loops. Initially I imagined him to be a drug-addled hippy, but it became clear he was a Hindu holy man or saddhu (with ash or something on his face and on his long beard), although he was white. He didn’t engage with the crowd much and was clearly more intent on making music than hustling for handouts. His music was an entrancing racket which blended strings, programmed beats and layers of effects. It was really a terrific mix of organic and technological and I guess was something like an electro-raga – full of drones and different tonal colours - but also some sub-species of trance or techno, though the beats were often quite submerged. I seem to recall there were spoken vocals too but heavily processed and distorted. It was in no way soothing new-age ambient music. It was shot through with some kind of devotional fervour, packed with weird sounds whose sources were hard to identify and was really dynamic. I enjoyed sitting alongside other astonished market-goers and digging. (As quoted by Brent Clough ABC).

Tracks : Money/ Karma/ Dominant paradiom/ Dynamite/ Post nuclear bomb babys/ names of shiva/ The curse.

Record and cover are in Near Mint condition.
