If you're viewing this listing, you already know what Music Matters and SRX are all about. Super limited editions of some of Blue Note's greatest titles on the quietest vinyl around. Like all Music Matters releases, this record was cut from the original analog tapes, mastered by Ron Rambach and Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio, and pressed at RTI with the legendary Stoughton jacket.
This particular record was Johnny Griffin's first album as a leader, recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in 1956 and released in 1957 (Blue Note 1533). In addition to Johnny Griffin on tenor sax, it features Wynton Kelly on piano, Curly Russell on bass, and the great Max Roach on drums, and showcases some outrageously fast bebop songs as well as lyrical ballads and grooving mid-tempo numbers. Everything you want in a late 50s Blue Note record.

I've played this record less than 5 times (I also have the Blue Note 80th Anniversary pressing), but I'm grading the vinyl as Excellent and not Near Mint only because if you look very closely you'll see 1 or 2 very faint surface hairline scratches. Does not affect play. The jacket is Near Mint, with no splits like you sometimes see with Stoughton gatefolds. 

As you can see in the pictures, this comes with the original outer sleeve with SRX hype sticker. I've replaced the original PVC inner sleeve used by the pressing plant RTI with an anti-static rice paper lined sleeve (an improvement in my opinion).
Starting the bidding at under $20 so we can let the market decide what this is worth.

No international shipping, Continental United States only (sorry). This will ship for free via FedEx (not USPS media mail) in a nearly indestructible box (the kind used by Acoustic Sounds and The In Groove) packed with 3 cardboard pads on each side of the record (6 total) to ensure there is no movement in the package during shipping. I'm not trusting such a precious record to media mail.
