Description
Up for bid is a rare LP, "Introducing The Beatles." See pictures for song list. This is an amazing find: at first glance, it is just a regular Introducing The Beatles. However, it isn't just any ordinary Introducing the Beatles... The back cover has two slicks on it. The first one is the usual back cover, with the song listings, including "Ask Me Why" as the last song on side 1 and Please Please Me as the first song on side 2. However, as I was inspecting it, I noticed there was another slick behind it, as there is the older version of the album track list underneath. "Love Me Do" is listed underneath "Ask Me Why" and "P.S. I Love You" is listed underneath Please Please Me (the outer paste over slick has no comma in the title "Please Please Me). The whole rest of the slick underneath is also visible to the human eye. PLEASE NOTE - the slick underneath is hard to make out in pictures, I have done my best to show it, but I can assure you it is present underneath the top paste over slick. There is a small "step down" area around the spindle hole on side 2 only (see pictures). This is an incredible, scarce item! If you google "Introducing The Beatles Variations" the first site that comes up has "Eskimo" in the title. This site explains the variations of this LP, as this was one of the most counterfeited LPs in history. It describes the paste over art that this one has, as well as the interior rainbow labels and the Vee Jay bracket logo that is present on this press above the spindle hole (see pictures). Another tell tale sign is the presence of "George's shadow" (to the right of George's picture) on the front cover. This is a true press, not a counterfeit! This was released by Vee Jay Records (VJLP 1062) in 1964. LP is VG+, with light scuffs on either side and a couple of small light scratches on side 2. Both sides play through with surface noise (crackle, tics, and pops) with no skips. Jacket is VG+, with a small seam split about 1/2 long on the top seam in the front top left corner. There is wear on all seams and corners. There is ring wear on the front and back, and there is light scuffing on the bottom center of the front of the jacket. There is a very small tear in the surface paste over slick, underneath the final "E" in "There" in the title of the first song on side 1 (see pictures) - affects top paste over slick only. Colors remain bright on the front and the front of the jacket retains a nice gloss. I worked in a record store for nine years, and this is the first non counterfeit copy of this I have ever seen! Includes original interior Vee Jay Paper inner sleeve. Don't miss out on this extremely rare gem!
