Description

The main concern for anyone on this title...?
Is it genuine or is it a fake?
And i'm afraid to say many copies are hoisted up on line as originals and are from it... So how do we spot the real McCoy?
Most important considerations...
Cover.... On the front...is there a shadow on the right side of George? On the rear -- the 'Honey' test...many fakes have slightly inferior letter definition edging.                         This exhibits as slight deformation of two letters in the word 'Honey'. All good here.
On the record label... The colour banding should be wide and consistent with green showing. The band name -BEATLES should be found above the spindle hole, not below. Vinyl weight should be relatively heavy - and certainly not flimsy.

Original VeeJay Logo label -- Jan64 pressing as Capitol and VJ were set to battle it out in the courts!"
There was an initial batch of covers held back by VJ in Autumn '63 - from an aborted release. These hit the market place Jan64 and house the earliest variation. VJ were in a mad dash to stave off bankruptcy and compete with the Capitol title. Hot on the heels of these are - THE VERSION HERE  which were available concurrently-- these copies are 'technical 1st issue' -- as is proven by them retaining TWO tracks that VJ did not have publishing rights for. PS I Love You and Love Me Do -- "only exist on the early 1st issue." VJ had to pivot immediately and drop these tracks. ALL other VJ from '64 replace these two tracks.
Note the last of the original 1st issues WITH PSILU&LoveMeDo are entering the shops as VJ realised they had to bin those two tracks[!]. The slicks needed revising at this point for the new version. And its for this reason that some of the later 1st issues are already being slipped into the new Q1'64 covers [rather than the original track listing].
VJ was then sent cease and desist notices throughout the spring. Court action followed which resulted in VJ having to  shut down much of their production by summer-64.
Note it's "VeeJay" logo...the 1st design of the logo. Also the labels are the 45 style with the logo floating up higher.

Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use...A couple of marks per side - 1 semi feelable -- nothing nasty/heavy. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation...intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. For the vintage - highly impressive. Anna has a small mark....semi-feelable....you'll get 10 ticks and maybe a couple of click. But that's my only complaint. Anna still plays fine - and delivery is clean. That's the one issue....really. The rest is clean Q1'64 delivery.
Cover (Ex) Nice flat front without the usual heavy wear....Rear is pretty much fully white ..highly...highly unusual ...overall....very nice! This is a very tidy looking example.. Minor edge wear...1 inch top left edge. 95% spine.
