Description

From the glorious heyday of Britjazz bebop, this debut LP from The Tony Kinsey Quintet still sounds electrifying today. And no wonder with the stellar line-up of Don Rendell (tenor sax), Ronnie Ross (baritone sax), Bill Le Sage (piano/vibes), Pete Blannin (bass) and Tony Kinsey (drums).

Copies are few and far between – and even rarer in this condition.

The fragile and thin Decca sleeve has aged pretty well, probably helped by some careful taping at the opening edge which has protected it well. Otherwise a bit of wear and tear and some laminate peeling at the spine and edges are the only other signs of age.

The vinyl has some marks but actually very few – and sounds Excellent, thanks to those deep 50s grooves.

The labels are Excellent and suggest it's not been overplayed at all.

It comes with an authentic Decca inner sleeve (might be slightly later than 1957) with just one minor tear to the bottom edge.

A fantastic find for jazz collectors, realistically priced. Don't miss it.
