Background $$$ This historically important album has not come up for sale in Australia on Discogs since 2021, and 47 x Aussie Discogs Members own a copy whilst 103 x Aussie Members are in a holding position waiting to snap up the next one that turns up!!! $$$ History ## Heavy is the debut studio album by the rock band Iron Butterfly, released on January 22, 1968. The first two tracks, "Unconscious Power" and "Possession", were released as the respective sides of a single. Three of the group's members (Darryl DeLoach, Jerry Penrod, and Danny Weis) left the band shortly after the album was recorded, leaving drummer Ron Bushy and organist Doug Ingle to find replacements. Despite being a debut album with no hit single to provide an entry point for the casual listener, Heavy was a commercial success, reaching number 78 on the Billboard Charts[1][2] and eventually going Gold in the US & around the World!! ## Condition Report The Vinyl is described as between VG+ & Excellent, playing to Excellent today, average background for 1968 & no skips or stops. Several spindle marks to both labels. There are a reasonable number of fine hairlines & sleeve marks to both sides of the record, none of which are feelable. The Vinyl has retained nearly all of its rich waxy lustre. The record has plastic sleeve haze stripes to both sides which have zero effect on sound quality & which I have done a close up for your perusal.
The Cover is described as a Wonderful VG+. There is some visible edge/spine & corner-wear. There are some fine cracks to spine & edges with associated wrinkles. There is some minor ring wear to front & verso. There are some colour losses to edges & spine. There are some very minor areas of foxing to front & verso. No seam splits. Couple of minor stains here & there.
The Inner Protective Sleeve is the original from 1968 & is described as Excellent with no seam splits.
