Description
This 10†album is believed by some discographers to have been cancelled—but here it is! “Lester Young Collates No. 2†on Mercury MGC-124 from 1953. A rarity even in its reissued form on Clef, the original Mercury release is almost impossible to find! Great performances inside, and a bizarre portrait of “The Prez†by David Stone Martin on the outside!
Personnel: Lester Young, sax; Hank Jones & John Lewis, piano; Ray Brown, Joe Shulman & Gene Ramey, bass; Buddy Rich, Bill Clark & Jo Jones, drums.
Cover is EX with only very slight yellowing and very light wear, but no splits, bumps, bends, tears, writing, stickers or damage of any kind—solid and perfectly intact!
Disc is EX with only a very few light marks, and no warps, chips, nicks, fingerprints or other defects. Plays great with only minor surface noise. The sound would probably be even better after a good machine cleaning, but I prefer to leave that to the discretion of the winning bidder. Very glossy and beautiful!
Labels are MINT with no stickers, stains or writing, spindle trails, fingerprints, wear or defects of any kind—shiny and perfect!
