PLEASE CONSIDER THAT IN THESE EBAY AUCTIONS I USE A STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE GRADING SYSTEM THAT CAN'T DISAPPOINT ANYONE BUT THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT ,FOR EXAMPLE, A VG+ COVER OR A VG+ VINYL IT'S EQUIVALENT TO "BAD CONDITIONS" BUT SIMPLY THAT MY GRADE IT'S STRICT AND PROBABLY EQUIVALENT TO AN EX OF SOMEONE ELSE WITH NOT A SO STRICT GRADE. I HAVE SOLD IN THESE AUCTIONS EX- RECORDS THAT WERE SURELLY M- COPIES BUT I PREFERE TO BE STRICT TO AVOID ANY DISAPPOINTEMENT BECAUSE I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY REPUTATION.
The auctioned item it's very rare and a similar graded copy has been auctioned 1 time only in 2011 and sold for 267 Euros and 1 time only in 2010 and sold for 334 Euros.
graded VG++/VG for a strict Record Collector magazine grading system
label: The Beautiful Black Butterfly label or B.B.B. it's in quite nice conditions. I can't notice spindle wear around the center hole and it does have the original SIAE circular stamp on side 1 where the Butterfly image it's originally coloured being black/white on side 2...I call it VG++.
cover: The cover it's gatefold and textured with an heavilly textured pocket in the right inner side where a equally sutertextured and multifold booklet it's included with 1 photo and 1 song liryc for each page. The texturing of the cover has been done with a fragile and not plastified paper pellicle over an heavy cardboard sheet hence being this pellicle very fragile on the spine where there's not any cardboard under the pellicle it's even much more fragile ,so there are 2 tears and because these 2 tears the spine it's splitted for about 2 cm but it's easilly restorable gluing one side of the split to the cardboard of the foldout side hence in the photo you can see that now the tear it's restored. The rest it's in very nice condition as it's close to impossible for this type of cover and when you'll seethe cover you would totally understand this point ... I grade the cover VG++.
vinyl:The vinyl look a full VG because he have some marks on both sides and some of them seems to be deep altough not feelables under the finger pressure. I have fully listened both sides and the conclusion it's that the longer marks do nothing. The sound it's high, clear and there's not background crackles but in some spot there are lights clicks caused to shorts marks but deeper. In the second track side one there's 5/6 clicks and in some moments a light background crackles but not annoying. Some crackles are also in the start of second track side too , inside the light organg introduction you hear there crackles for about 30 seconds, then nothing else of noticeable....result of playing it's that it's absolutelly a VG looking vinyl but he plays at 95% as an EX and in the remaining part you can hear light crackles and some repetitive clicks. This is a very rare album and this must be considered when you'll offer. Full EX copies does not exist because the cover normally it's much more damaged than this copy...the vinyl it's still much enjoyable but not perfect in any place. Please don't bid if you need a perfect copy.
review: This what it's wrote in the very popular Italian Progressive site about it and this is not a commercial site:"Another band coming from a 60's long career, The Showmen from Naples had some hits in 1968 and 1969 with their original blend of soul, rhythm & blues and Italian pop, releasing only an LP and a bunch of singles on RCA.The band had been formed by bassist/singer Mario Musella and sax player James Senese in 1966, and their first single came in 1968. They had a great hit with Un'ora sola ti vorrei, that won the 1968 Cantagiro. The original group split at the turn of the 70's, with Musella embarking in an unsuccessful solo career (he sadly died in 1979), and Elio D'Anna going to form Osanna. After a short time Senese and Del Prete, aided by the guitarist Botta (now on bass), reformed the group with a new line-up, more influenced by the current Italian rock tendencies. They first released some singles, halfway between the 60's soul of the original line-up and a new sound, then an album simply called Showmen 2 (the group was touring as Showmen 2, but the liner notes refer to them as simply Showmen), from which another single was taken, on the small local label B.B.B., with little promotion. The album is housed in a stunning heavy gatefold cover and contains a peculiar mix of rock, rhythm & blues, prog, not far from the sound of Chicago or the English band If. The voice has melodic pop influences, but the music is powerful and well played, with strong horn arrangements that make this album unique in the Italian prog scene of the time.Tracks like Abbasso lo zio Tom (also released as a single and with lyrics about racism) or Epitaffio have good lyrics and nice arrangements. The band broke up after the album, founders Senese and Del Prete creating Napoli Centrale with a production of three jazz-rock albums in 1975-77"...so I can just add...Don't miss!
