Description
"It's a Beautiful Day" is the self-titled debut album by the San Francisco psychedelic band called It's a Beautiful Day. The album's song "White Bird" was the band's biggest hit. The album rose to number 47 on Billboard's Top LPs American albums chart. The album cover is number 24 on Rolling Stone's list if greatest album covers.
Although they were one of the earliest and most important San Francisco bands to emerge from 1967's social phenomenon Summer of Love, the band never quite achieved the success of contemporaries such as Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana, with whom they had connections. The band created a unique blend of rock, jazz, folk, classical and world beat styles during the initial seven years it was officially together.
The band's signature song "White Bird" was inspired by the experiences David and Linda LaFlamme (founding members) had while living in Seattle around December 1967. In an ironic twist on the band's name, the sad song was partly inspired by Seattle's rainy winter weather. In a later interview, David LaFlamme said:
"Where the 'white bird' thing came from ... We were like caged birds in that attic. We had no money, no transportation, the weather was miserable. We were just barely getting by on a very small food allowance provided to us. It was quite an experience, but it was very creative in a way."This album has "360 sound Stereo" so it can be played on mono record players with excellent results, yet it will reveal full stereo sound when played on stereo record players.
The album is in near mint condition, having been played only a handful of times. There is one minor scuff mark on Side 1, possibly from taking the album out of the album sleeve. The sleeve is in very good condition, although it does show signs of age. The album cover is in VG condition, with light ring markings, which is balanced by its stature as Rolling Stone' top 24 out of 100 greatest album covers of all time :)!
That said, I am sure that a long debate could ensue debating our own favorite album covers and art of our favorite bands. Yet another aspect of vinyl that makes it great. Please enjoy!
