1968 UK 1st *STEREO* PRESSING* LP

Only 5,000 copies of this album which was released on November 28th 1968. Due to the nature of the cover EMI agreed only to press the discs but refused to handle distribution or print the covers. The distribution was subsequently taken up by Track Records and a small independant printing firm 'Technink' was contracted to print the infamous covers.The 'music' itself was the result of an all-night session of musical experimentation in Lennon's home studio at Kenwood with Yoko Ono and features 'avant-garde' pieces featuring tape loops from John's Mellotron, piano, organ, drums played by John togetrher with sound effects and ad-lib comments and noises with Yoko.

This barely played copy comes from that initial UK batch of 5,000 and is on the dark green Apple label with the Track logo & catalogue number: 613012

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text with no purchase tax visible on either label.

The disc is housed within Technink Limited' printed cover with the printed wording on the 'rear' panel.

Complete with its original die-cut, matt-black inner-sleeve.

Both labels are in superb, unworn condition with just two tiny spindle marks to the side 2 centre hole only.

Visual: NEAR MINT

This disc has clearly been out of its cover just one or twice during the past 41 years as both playing surfaces appear at first glance to be 'as new' with all of their deep-gloss shines fully intact. Close inspection in strong daylight shows up just a few extremely light marks from inner-sleeve removal but no significant surface marks or any scratches whatsoever. Even careful scrutiny directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp fails to reveal anything more than a sparkling rainbow shines but absolutley no other marks or wear. Both sides of this outstanding disc lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of any dishing or warping.

Play: EXCELLENT

Played once or twice at most by its original owner and once by me, I can confirm the sound as being clear, clean & unworn throughout with no traces of any groove/play wear or background noise anywhere. The entire album is also free from any clicks, pops or any othersuch audible distraction or fault.

Cover

EXCELLENT -

A respectable example of this infamous cover with a bright front panel which as you can bears a small blemish towards the upper edge which is underneath the laminate. There is a little lifting and cracking to the laminate towards the spine area but all corners and both opening edges are undamaged. The rear panel is fine with just some minor toning towards the spine but no laminate lifting or damage. Both seams and the unworded spine are all smooth, unstressed & unsplit.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean & fully intact with some light storage creasing but no splits or tears anywhere.
