JOHANNA MARTZY Columbia 33CX 1372 Blue/Gold SCHUBERT Rondo & Fantaisie with JEAN ANTOINIETTI

This is one of Martzy’s rarest recordings.  It features Jean Antonietti on piano and they are performing two Schubert pieces; Rondeau Brilliant in B minor, D.895 (Op.70) and Fantaisie in C major, D.934 (Op.159).  The disc was made in Gt. Britain and pressed on the early Columbia blue/gold label (mono).  The matrix numbers are: XRX 207-1N & XRX 208-4N.  The disc has been cleaned using a VPI professional cleaning machine, courtesy of Really Useful Records, Plymouth – many thanks.  The cover is the original Mardons flip-back cardboard sleeve with satin finish, featuring sleeve notes by Leonard Duck.  The inner sleeve is plain white paper (not original).  The original polythene liner is also included.

Condition of Disc

The disc is flat and the playing surfaces are glossy and clean and generally show only the very faintest signs of wear.  Centre labels are free of writing, sticky labels or marks.  There is negligible wear on the labels around the centre holes.  On playback there is some mild background crackle evident during quiet passages and occasional low-level clicks.  Overall, I have graded the disc conservatively as VG+ (Record Collector).

Condition of Sleeve

The sleeve shows signs of shelf/handling wear, minor creases and ring wear on the back.  At the front, top left, there is a circle of damage approx 0.5cm across caused by the removal of a price label.  There are no sticky labels, tears or writing.  The rear sleeve notes are clearly readable.  The spine printing has worn but remains just readable.

There is no extra charge for packing as I use recycled materials: bubble-wrap and reinforced cardboard etc.

Postage costs outside Europe: £6.83.

Note that the item will be sent by the appropriate Royal Mail service, but unless otherwise requested the compensation for loss or damage in transit is limited to a maximum of £41. If you are interested in this option, please send a query and I will let you know the additional costs.
