Tenor saxophonist Jack Montrose had been off records a long time (and had not led his own record date since 1957) when he had the opportunity to record for the short-lived label Slingshot. Joined by the Pete Jolly Trio (which consists of the pianist, bassist Chuck Berghofer and drummer Nick Martinis), Montrose plays ten worthy if obscure songs by producer/composer David Holt. The music on this hard-to-find LP is moody, sometimes picturesque and generally swinging.
