Ever heard of Jackie Day ? She was from San Francisco and started off as Jacquelene Edwards. In 1960 she married Big Jay McNeely, who was already a long-time R&B sax legend. She came to recording a bit late in life, cutting a trio of singles for Modern Records in 1966 while she was in her late 20s, following with one for Specialty and another for Paula.
This one is from January of 1971 and pairs up the great “I Can’t Wait” with “Guilty.” It’s a promo on Paula Records, her only one for the label.
