Description
On offer here is an incredibly rare MONO 1st pressing UK LP of Is This What You Want by JACKIE LOMAX. These very scarce mono pressings were issued in VERY limited numbers and both copies in my collection have 1G / 1G stampers indicating that very few of these were made as they both come from the very first batch of 300 copies pressed!!! As far as I am aware, all copies that have surfaced of this LP, on the very rare occasions that they do turn up, have the same 1G / 1G mothers & stampers so it may be that just the one batch of 300 copies actually exists of this mono pressing, or maybe even less – it is rumoured that only 99 copies of some original APPLE label mono pressings were made!!! This is the very last mono LP released on the APPLE label before stereo became the only format available!!
This copy also comes with the original inner sleeve with musician credits etc. The record is on the UK APPLE label, catalogue number is APCOR 6. Matrix numbers are: Side 1 – APCOR 6A-1 & Side 2 – APCOR 6B-1. Mothers & stampers are: Side 1 – G 1 & Side 2 – G 1. The vinyl itself is VERY strictly graded in VG/VG- condition. There are several light hairlines and marks on both sides but it still looks nice & plays through really well with some pops and clicks but no jumps, sticks etc & is 100% flat with no warps!!! The inner sleeve shows signs of slight wear and has some marks, also VG. The cover likewise has some creasing and corner wear but has no major damage, no writing, tears, splits etc so this is also very strictly graded as VG. The labels are fine with no tears, marks, writing etc and just some minor spindle wear.
Released on The Beatles’ Apple label in 1969, the LP was arranged and produced by George Harrison and also features Harrison’s own otherwise unavailable composition Sour Milk Sea! Musicians include Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Klaus Voormann, Nicky Hopkins etc etc. This is a great record recorded at the legendary Trident Studios in London as well as Sound Recorders in Los Angeles.
As stated, these rare mono Apple pressings are very scarce and pressed in extremely tiny quantities! This is an extremely desirable mega-rare issue of this classic LP and a rare chance to complete your Apple collection with an album that is hardly EVER offered for sale!!!! Bid with confidence!!!!!
UK Registered Postage is £4.00. Airmail postage (not registered) to USA is £8, insurance is extra. Records will be packed in very secure brand new professional record mailers with cardboard stiffeners and with the LP in a PVC sleeve and with the inner sleeve and record separate from the cover to avoid splits etc - I do not make a profit on postage at all and delivery quickly and pack very securely for maximum safety.
IMPORTANT - Please note that if you are bidding from anywhere outside the UK, I will ONLY accept PAYPAL as the method of payment. I always grade my records fairly and prefer to under-grade to avoid disappointment, check my feedback. Full refund if not satisfied. Winning buyer must make payment within 7 days of the end of the auction or the item will be relisted & reported to ebay as unpaid. Another great rarity from my personal collection - HAPPY BIDDING !!!!!!!!!!!
