Description
For auction is JACKIE McLEAN's "One Step Beyond," on Blue Note BLP 4137, MONO, 1963. This is a true 1st press, as described below.
SOUND: NM
I listened to both sides complete. The sound was excellent! Very clean and crisp with no significant background noise or any other problems. A terrific listening experience! (I was very pleasantly surprised, see below!)
VINYL: VG, maybe better
Sounds way better than it looks: The vinyl has four distinct scuffs, each about 1/2-to-1-inch long, in the same area (Side A/1). I assumed there would be "pops" at the very least, in the playback, but the sound is not affected at all! The rest of the vinyl has routine wear. The record is on the blue-and-white "New York USA" labels. Has deep-groove on Side A only. "Van Gelder" stamp and Plastylite "ear" in dead wax on both sides.
COVER: VG+
The edges are all solid, with a little bit of yellowing. The corners are a little bit soft with a little fraying. The front cover is clean and retains its sheen. It's unmarked and has a radio-station catalogue sticker on the top corner. The back cover is clean and unmarked with a minor yellowing/aging. Overall it's very nice! Has "43 West 61st St" address on back, and non-laminated front cover.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
If you have been looking for this record, you won't be disappointed. No reserve, bidding starts at $25.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
