Description

Here is a great vintage Jackie Shane Northern Soul 45.

This has the extremely rare and beautiful "Stand Up Straight And Tall."

Flip side is the hippest version of "You Are My Sunshine" ever, almost unrecognizable.

Jackie was a great American soul singer who performed in Toronto, Canada for many years with local funk legend Frank Motley.

Jackie was a crossdresser in the early '60s, a time when it could cost him his life, and apparently did.

He released one great album called "Jackie Shane Live", full of great soul and funk cuts.  Also funny but heartbreaking stories about walking on the wild side back when it was extremely dangerous.

Neither of these two songs appear on the album.

This is an original Canadian pressing on Modern.  45xM 1031.

The vinyl is glossy and excellent, with a few minor marks that result in a few pops at the beginning.

Plays great.

One in lesser condition recently sold for 158 dollars.  Another seller has this listed for 550 dollars(!).

However, it could easily be years before you see this one offered again, and probably not in this great condition either. 

A great rare piece of Canadian soul/funk history.
