Description

Hello and welcome. Beginning in the 1960s, I made it my goal to collect every 5-star record still available, and I continued my search for 40 years. While not all the records I list for sale reached that lofty goal, they do represent an undying search for the unique and wonderful in the world of sound. I'm happy to be able to offer them to you now. Here is what you're bidding on:  TITLE & ARTIST: "Jackie Sings the Blues" - by Jackie Wilson on the Brunswick Records label (BL 54055), in beautiful original mono sound, released in 1959. CONDITION: JACKET - VG+ (Gatefold cover is spectacular, and is marred only by light to moderate edge and corner wear, some splitting at top opening corner, and age soiling on the back cover; inside gatefold includes the original one page insert filled with color and black&white photos of Jackie in studio and performing live; also includes original inner sleeve - please see actual album in photos); VINYL - VG (Brunswick's vinyl has clearly been played and loved a great deal; there are scuffs and small scratch marks covering most of the surface; there is a name from a label maker on one of the all black labels; I am listening now and there are numerous pops and crackles, but the sound quality is superb and there have been no skips - Visually Graded under custom spotlight).  SPECIAL FEATURES: This is one of the rarest and finest records in the history of Rock and R&B. This copy is the first edition with the all-black labels and the center insert. The sound from Brunswick's deep groove vinyl is shockingly good, but there are plenty of pops and crackles (most are minor but a few are loud, but with no skips). This is the only copy I have seen in 40 years of looking. The inset page is wonderful, filled with info and photos (including the miss spelling of the Apollo Theater - Appollo). Back cover notes written by Marty Hoffman. My friends, this is another of those "Holy Grail" records that's worth its price, no matter what that may be. My listing price is exactly what I paid for this record back in 1978. TRACKS: Please Tell Me Why, Doggin' Around, New Girl In Town, Nothin' But the Blues, Passin' Through, Excuse Me For Lovin', She Done Me Wrong, Sazzle Dazzle, Please Stick Around, Come On and Love Me Baby, Comin' to Your House, and It's Been a Long Time. Thanks! If you have further questions about condition or content, please don't hesitate to ask. You may bid with unworried confidence. Our sales history is your assurance of absolute integrity. Thank you and good luck. OUR GRADING SYSTEM: We grade visually, and we are happy to listen to any LP and give you an aural grade as well. SS (Still Sealed as from the factory); NM (Near Mint - our highest grade; the vinyl has only a very few light marks that do not affect play); VG++ (Very Good Plus Plus - a few more light marks than Near Mint; still a great record that plays near perfectly); VG+ (Very Good Plus - an enjoyable, played and loved, obviously used but still listenable record, usually with some light pops, but free of major audible distraction; jacket may be lightly worn, slightly dinged, even very lightly split, but NEVER trashed); VG (Very Good) and below - we usually do NOT sell these, but if we have some good reason to offer such a record, we will explain completely).
