The formula of the previous effort is being continued here and again the results are ambiguous. It seems almost impossible, but this album has exactly the same flaw as the other one: a strong A-side opposed to a weak B-side.The whole of side A balances somewhere between King Crimson, Yes and pop-music, no mean feat. Maureen may sound like Yes trying a pop song, it's still a succesfull attempt. Harmonically inventive on As she starts, etherical on Oh you beauty, this is a great start. Best track is to follow, the classical-tainted and mellotron-loaded Bebop. The Canterbury-styled To catch a thief is agreeable too. We also appreciate the interest in cinematic history that the title of this track betrays, especially when the label is called Vertigo. On side B it's all downhill, the Nice cover is superfluous, Poor Peter is even fake-country, the worst style imaginable, the other tracks are a grey mass. Only the title track escapes the malaise more or less. How can people capable of the first side produce such substandard tracks?

Now this is a nice drawing, straight from the nursery rhyme book. It may be a single cover, but it is beautifully embossed by a cap and bells motive (see scan above). Looks lovely! The backcover has another drawing, just as great. For good measure a poster is thrown in too. It shows the three main members before an excerpt of the drawing, but the photograph is much too dark and poorly posed, too.
The lettering is just as nice as the drawings are.
