Jackson Heights

were an English rock band, led by bassist and vocalist Lee Jackson, that ran from 1970 to 1973. Other players included Brian Chatton (born Brian Charles Chatton, 19 July 1948, Bolton, Lancashire), Dave Watts (ex-Tornados; from Bromley, Kent) playing keyboards and King Crimson's drummers Michael Giles and Ian Wallace.

Their debut album King Progress included a reworking of "The Cry Of Eugene", a track originally by The Nice on their first album, The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack, as well as original material including "Doubting Thomas" and "Insomnia". 

The formula of the previous effort is being continued here on this album and again the results are ambiguous. It seems almost impossible, but this album has exactly the same flaw as the preceding one: a very strong A-side opposed to a weaker B-side. The whole of side A balances somewhere between King Crimson and Yes , no mean feat. Maureen may sound like Yes trying a pop song, it's still a succesfull attempt.

THE VINYL PLAYS SUPERBLY ALL THE WAY THROUGH BOTH SIDES. 

THE STEREO REPRODUCTION IS SUPERB AND EVERY NOTE IS HEARD CLEARLY AND CRISPLY.  ONLY LIGHT STATIC ON THE BEGINNING OF EACH SIDE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, NO STICKS OR JUMPS!

     The absolute rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays. This is an absolutely gorgeous super heavy slab of early quality vinyl which is in great  condition without any marks or hairlines!! This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality jazz fusion/prog album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get any better than this!!

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!!  This is an album that is on many prog collectors wishlists and it is only the second time I have ever come across it. Scarce??? I surely think so!!!

 Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. NO clicks or crackle, this is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl .The audio is fantastic. Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.

Vinyl:  EX.  A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> fantastic audio, a joy to listen to!! This is the true official 1st stereo press.  I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. There are only a couple of hairlines, no marks and looks absolutely fantastic.   I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection.   Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.

Sleeve:  VG.  A matt embossed sleeve that has a few colourfills to the front and two seam splits. the spine is 90% readable. Edges have rubwear. Printed and made by Howard Printers (Slough) Ltd.  NO writing.
