Description

JAKE HOLMES “The Above Ground Sound Of Jake Holmes” TOP! 1967 Fuzz Psych LED ZEPPELIN

1967/USA/Tower Records st-5079……here’s a clean original pressing of this rare  psych lp. The cover is in clean condition with slight shelf, white back cover shows some minor soiling and spotty light yellow staining, corner dings/wear, paper gone from corner tips, the top seam has a 2.5” split at the left side and it extends 1” down the top of the spine, the top front cover has a 4” split where the front cover slick it pasted on at the top, tiny delete hole top left corner, otherwise the cover is solid and clean. The vinyl is in vg++ condition with a handful of super light inaudible hairline sleeve scuffs and minor light storage stains/blemishes. The record plays clean with minor occasional light noise/crackle, mainly at cue and between tracks. The labels are clean with only a couple oof very light spindle marks. A nice copy of this rare lp. Please check my auctions for other psych, prog, and rock lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!

On his own, Holmes recorded during the 1960s two well-regarded albums for EMI's Tower Records label: A Letter to Katherine December and The Above Ground Sound of Jake Holmes. The album is best known for the song "Dazed and Confused" because rock band Led Zeppelin member Jimmy Page took the title, came up with a new set of lyrics, and changed enough of the melody to escape a plagiarism lawsuit. "Dazed and Confused" was included in Led Zeppelin's 1969 debut album Led Zeppelin. The Led Zeppelin version was not credited to Jake Holmes.

GRADING

MINT: I consider New Unplayed or Sealed items only.

M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
