Description
Scarce psychedelic folk LP featuring JAKE HOLMES entitled “The Above Ground Sound of Jake Holmes” on the TOWER label, from 1967.
This is presumably a promotional copy, (stamped “FREE” in upper right corner of jacket) with STOCK tan label. Jacket indicates stereo pressing with catalog number ST 5029, but label indicates DUOPHONIC STEREO pressing, catalog number DT-5079.
This is the debut LP by Holmes who was author of “Dazed and Confused,” a song covered by the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin. The Yardbirds recorded this song as “I’m Confused” on the Live Yardbirds featuring Jimmy Page LP. Led Zeppelin recorded the most memorable version. Jake Holmes’ version on this LP is somewhat lost and demented, as is perhaps this whole LP. Great folk psychedelia. All songs composed by Holmes.

Jacket: Condition of jacket is nice NM- with nice bright artwork, a slight bump at bottom right corner, otherwise flawless. As previously indicated, “FREE” is stamped in upper right corner.
Vinyl: Vinyl is gorgeous NM, very likely unplayed. Labels are clean and pristine. Came from the record library of a radio station executive. If you are looking for a fabulous playing copy of this rare excellent LP, here is your opportunity. I am certain winning bidder will be very pleased.
