Description
You are bidding on a rare, original, vintage, jazz, LP record album, from 1953, entitled, Jam Session #1 Supervised by Norman Granz", on the Clef Records label #MGC-4001. This is the rare, original, thick vinyl pressing. "MGC-4001-A is machine stamped on one side in the trail-off vinyl and "MGC-4001-B" is machine stamped on the other side. There is also etching letters in the trail-off on both sides. The powder blue labels with black print are in very good plus to excellent condition. The vinyl is in very good plus condition to excellent condition with only a few scattered, faint to light scratches. The mirror-like vinyl gloss is tremendous. The jacket is in very good to very good plus condition. There is an original, "CLEF RECORDS" sticker on the front cover at the bottom right hand corner. A similar sticker is on the back side cover, by the upper right hand corner, that states, "MG C-4001". The jacket's front cover artistry was done by David Stone Martin. There is light soiling of the yellow background on the front side cover. The front cover has a very small paper tear by the left edge middle. The back side cover has light to moderate soiling against the white background and a few small smudging areas. There are no edge splits, however there is some light edge and corner wear and also four spots of one inch edge fraying, two on the left and two on the top. This has been a critical description of the jacket for the serious record collector. The back side cover features nice photos of the musicians that play on the record: Charlie Parker, Ray Brown, Barney Kessel, Oscar Peterson, J.D. Heard, Johnny Hodges, Benny Carter, Flip Phillips, Charlie Shavers, and Ben Webster. Please see the detailed photos. This is a 3-day, no reserve sale.
