From the personal collection of James Brown archivist and author Alan Leeds.
Super rare 12" acetate (one of a kind?) of an unissued 1966 live album.
This album was scheduled for release in the fall of 1966 as "Soul Brother #1 - Live In Tampa" but then cancelled in favor of Brown's IT'S A MAN'S MAN'S MAN'S WORLD album. (Brown released a newer live album in 1967).
Includes a rare complete version of "I GOT YOU (I FEEL GOOD)".
Here are JB and his classic band, on fire, including CLYDE STUBBLEFIELD, JABO STARKS, JIMMY NOLEN, BERNARD ODOM, NAT JONES, WAYMON REED, BOBBY BYRD, JOE DUPARS, LEVI RASBURY, ALFONZO KELLUM, ST. CLAIR PINCKNEY, ELDEE WILLIAMS, CHARLES CARR and PEE WEE ELLIS.
No labels on the disc. In a plain white jacket with typed credits.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Acetates were intended merely as "test records" and are not intended for repeated play.
This particular acetate has been played quite a bit and the first couple minutes of each side are unplayable due to chipping. Thankfully it's remarkably free of scratches or scuffs so the majority of the record plays very well and sounds fine.
It's likely the chipping will one day get worse so it's advised that the owner should play and digitize the record as soon as possible.
