Description
This is a fine copy from a late 1990s-early 2000s reissue on the Polydor label of a 1972 LP by James Brown. This is one of Brown's more substantial LPs from this period, with the gritty spoken-sung raps "King Heroin" (a top ten R&B hit) and "Public Enemy #1" and the satirical funk of "Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing" (another #1 R&B hit and a top 30 pop hit), along with two more plaintive numbers, "Who Am I" and "Never Can Say Goodbye" (not the same song as the Jackson 5 hit). Both the title track and "I'm a Greedy Man" were also hits. The art on the back cover is additionally worth noting, since it is (by Brown's standards) surprisingly stark, though it's in keeping with other records from the period like Marvin Gaye's What’s Going on and War's The World Is a Ghetto. The jacket is close to pristine with a little light creasing in two corners (M-). The disc is clean with a few fingerprints and some light scuffing, and plays with a little light surface noise (M-).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
