JAMES LEARY James II
New And sealed Audiophile Vinyl 2 Record Set - 45 RPM

Record Label: ViTaL 005

Long out of print and super-collectable, this is a new and sealed copy of James Leary's second double LP release for audiophile label, ViTaL.

David Manley and ViTaL Music were dedicated to producing great recordings. Using their own Manley professional line of vacuum tube recording gear, they recorded direct to two track analogue (using the Manley Stereo Gold Reference microphone) in their own 30' by 40' studio, and mastered all of the recordings in their full featured mastering room. Their studio was unique because the complete recording and playback chain (from microphone to playback monitors) was made up of Manley tube electronics.

The performances on this album, recorded by Manley, suggests imaging so real you can reach out and touch the musicians. Vital releases were made in very small quantity so have grown quite rare. If you like Manley Labs studio tube recording equipment then You will love the sound and performances of these recordings.

Record is new and sealed in it's original plastic sleeve. Perforation is completely intact. Corners are sharp, spine is straight and colors are vibrant.

Review: James Leary prepared a huge amount of bass-oriented material for the first VTL issue "James - Vital 003", featuring a choir of five string basses. When VTL was recording the bass choir album, Leary put certain songs aside and made comments like "Now this I want to do as solo bass with a trio or quartet..." and the list grew and grew. So here is James Leary as a featured bass-man with some gorgeous free-running jazz wherein you can hear the genius of Leary the bass player.

Leary thought he could get the legendary Eddie Harris to join him in the quartet material - and he did. He wanted Billy Childs, also a major performer, on piano and although contracted to another label, Billy kindly made the date. When it came to choosing a drummer, again one name sprang forward - Ralph Penland.
