Description

Here is a pristine original of James Thornbury's North & South LP. Guitarist from Tree People went on to produce this album before moving on to become Canned Heat's lead guitarist through the 80's. This title is highly sought after, not only because it's a 500 press rarity, but it's also a fun listen, mixed with blues, psych and even Brit-like folk rock. No two tunes are the same. James was on the top of his game when this was recorded. James would be noticed and fingered to front guitar for Canned Heat, covering the talent of Harvey Mandel and Henry Vestine.

The LP is a SOLID NM. It has been opened but all shrink is tight. I test played it using a fresh Shure M44-7 and it played like silk. I heard not one tick. The package is flat, the corners are pointed, no flaws to report. an absolute NM, only because it was opened. At least one does not have to worry about warpage or vinyl hiss. This is an ACE...a top nick relic.

RECORD GRADING
SS  - Still sealed in shrink. I cannot guaranteed what is inside since I have no way of knowing. Most likely it is in the condition when it left the factory.
NM - Near Mint - The record may have been played but seems brand new. It retains full gloss and has NO SURFACE MARKS. It has clean labels and should play like a new record. Covers have no marks or writing, crisp corners and no splits or damage. Often it may still be in shrink wrap.
EX - The disk has been properly cared for, has NO marks worthy of addressing, nice gloss, clean labels and should play without surface noise. Covers are generally crisp showing only the lightest of storage wear and shrink is usually gone. No writing, splits or damage. If it is 40 or 50 years old, there is no denying that is in EXCELLENT condition and a worthy collector quality.
VG+ - Very good, PLUS, it is amazing that this records made it through the years and is still in great shape. The disk may have light surface marks, that you may need proper lighting to see. NO scratches that affect play, any surface noise could only be audible between track is any at all. Labels and covers may have normal age and storage wear, but it was obviously well-kept. Any minor damage issues will be addressed in the listing, as well as writing, punch holes. A VG+ item is a sweet original that is meant to be played and enjoyed, and the package is still solid.
VG  My VG grading means VERY GOOD, not 'an old used record'. It may have visible surface marks and lines but the grooves are NOT worn and it still has gloss. It may have some light tics and occasional ambient surface sound but nothing that repeats or competes to be noticed. Face it. It the way most records are. This one is very good. There may be light label and spindle marks or writing. It's a very good old record. The cover may have minor splits, writing, creases or light stains that could be called 'normal wear' and is still cleanable, reparable and still solid enough to be called a 'very good' old cover. I prefer having my customers think my grading is 'very good'.

This is where I stop unless the record is extremely rare. I don't want any old noisy records or shabby covers being associated with my name. Hopefully, any record I sell will be a pleasure to listen to.
