JAN DUKES DE GREY - SORCERERS
Long deleted 1960's UK 1st press prog/psych rarity with gleaming barely played vinyl, originating from the legendary BBC record archive
Year/Label : 1969 UK DECCA nova series Label number : SDN 8 Matrix numbers : ZAL-9272.P-1W, ZAL-9273.P-1W (with "JT" tax code stamped on each dead wax run-in) Stampers : 1 U / 1 CNear mint (NM) condition vinyl - gleaming with beautiful jet black sheen, completely flat - virtually unmarked and it's only with very close inspection under a bright light that just a couple of extremely faint paper scuffs can be identified along with some very minor "dulling" in the dead wax areas - nothing really. Clearly this is a record that has been played only a few times (if that), with the superb stereo sound quality further supporting this view. Excellent plus (EX+) condition labels - again virtually unmarked with not even a single faint spindle trail on either label. Each label has the BBC stamp (see photo) which, for me, is the official mark of authenticity and only adds to the collectability of these prized LP's. I find it difficult to grade the condition of the original Senol Printing Limited laminated outer sleeve and I do urge you to look at my photos carefully. All edges are firm and unscuffed including a rigid spine with all spine text remaining perfectly intact; there is barely any laminate lifting or creasing (just the occasional very light and non-obvious 1cm laminate crease adjacent and perpendicular to an edge). There is just the hint of some storage/age discolouration on the reverse side next to the edges (again, very trivial) but all text, photos and front side colouration and art work remain in great condition with the sleeve in a highly presentable state. There are, however, two BBC stickers on the laminated front side and a further two stickers (along with the "GRAMOPHONE BBC LIBRARY" stamp) on the non-laminated reverse side (see photos). With care the front side stickers are removeable. My view is why would anybody want to remove any of these stickers? For me they form an intrinsic component in the rich 55 year old story on the origins and journey of this LP, which undoubtedly includes the handling of this record by BBC disc jockey luminaries such as John Peel and Johnnie Walker to name but two. What a conversation piece! This LP was once part of what is generally agreed to have been the greatest record collection on earth - these stickers authenticate and rubber stamp that, and for that reason I for one would never wish to remove them! Near mint (NM) stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, distortion, interference, or background crackle. Stunning! Every track makes for great listening with crystal clear stereo sound quality. Comes with original poly-lined DECCA sleeve in overall excellent condition with just a mild crease in one corner and a little fading. Note that I always ship my records in a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original. Long deleted, rare, and thoroughly underrated.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
